TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
My role at Wheaton College also includes one as Technical Director. On each show that we produce, I am in charge of managing the production budget and building the set. I work with students to show them how we take something from a drawing and make it into a real thing. Students in my crews learn how to read plans and drawings. They learn how to problem solve and adapt as we build sets. I teach them how to use hand tools and power tools to create whatever the designer has given us. My goal always is to teach students to be theater makers and storytellers. In our work in the world of the set, they are learning how what they make helps to tell that story. And they are learning what I have known for a long time, the satisfaction of making things with our hands. Below you will see a few images from the many plays that I have built.
